Six dead in Delhi building collapse as rescue efforts continue

NEW DELHI — At least six people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a student residential building in Delhi on Monday, according to the city's chief minister. Several others sustained injuries in the incident, though the exact number of those hurt remains unclear.

Emergency response teams mobilised quickly to the scene, launching search and rescue operations to locate any survivors who may remain trapped beneath the rubble. The multi-storey structure, which housed students, gave way without warning, trapping occupants under tonnes of concrete and metal debris.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the collapse. Structural engineers and officials are expected to conduct investigations once the rescue phase concludes to determine whether construction defects, maintenance failures, or other factors contributed to the building's failure.
