Six held in Assam for alleged fraud racket with Pakistan links

The Assam Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested six suspects in connection with an alleged fraud network believed to have links to Pakistan-based operatives, according to an official police statement released on Tuesday.

The investigation was launched following intelligence inputs received from Gajraj Military Intelligence (MI) unit based in Tezpur, which flagged suspicious activities and financial irregularities linked to the accused individuals.

Police officials have not disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the fraud or the identities of the arrested individuals at this stage. The STF is conducting further interrogation to uncover the full extent of the network's operations and any potential transnational connections.

The case highlights growing concerns over cross-border criminal networks operating in Northeast India. Authorities have intensified their focus on detecting and dismantling such operations that may pose security and financial risks to the region.

The arrested individuals are currently in police custody pending investigation and will be produced before the competent judicial authorities as per legal procedures.
