Six Indian trekkers missing during expedition to Nepal's deepest lake

Search and rescue operations have been launched following the disappearance of the Indian trekking party in Nepal's mountainous Dolpa region. The group was en route to Shey-Phoksundo Lake, located at approximately 3,611 meters above sea level and recognized as Nepal's deepest freshwater lake.

The two female and four male trekkers lost contact with their support teams while navigating the challenging high-altitude terrain. Authorities in Nepal have been alerted and are coordinating rescue efforts in the difficult mountain environment.

Shey-Phoksundo Lake, situated in the remote northwestern region of Nepal near the Tibetan border, is a popular destination for adventure trekkers despite its isolated location and unpredictable weather conditions. The trekking route to the lake passes through sparsely populated areas with limited communication infrastructure.

The Indian embassy and authorities are monitoring the situation closely. Families of the missing trekkers have been notified, and efforts to establish contact and locate the group remain ongoing.
