Six Malaysian localities are experiencing unhealthy air quality conditions, according to latest air quality index readings taken at 9am today. Serian in Sarawak led the list of affected areas, though authorities have not reported any locations breaching the very unhealthy or hazardous thresholds.
The Air Pollutant Index, or API, categorises air quality across multiple bands, ranging from good to hazardous. Unhealthy readings typically prompt warnings for vulnerable population groups, including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities.
Monitoring agencies continue to track air quality developments throughout the day. The affected areas span both peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia, suggesting widespread atmospheric conditions contributing to the current pollution levels.
Residents in the six impacted areas are advised to check real-time air quality updates and follow health ministry guidance regarding outdoor exposure during periods of compromised air quality.
