A homeowner in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, discovered six young owls nestled in a window recess during festive season cleaning and promptly alerted local forest authorities. Jagdish Kumar, the resident, contacted the forest department upon finding the chicks, prompting immediate rescue operations.
Following the rescue, all six owlets were transferred to the range office where forest department personnel have assumed full responsibility for their care and rehabilitation. The young birds, species typical to the region, required immediate intervention to ensure their survival outside their natural nest.
Staff members began with a conservative feeding regimen of approximately 500 grams of chicken daily, gradually increasing nutritional intake as the owlets adapted to captive conditions. The birds now consume roughly one kilogram of chicken per day, reflecting their growing appetites and developmental needs.
Forest officials continue monitoring the owlets closely, with plans to prepare them for eventual release into their natural habitat once they reach sufficient maturity and strength. The incident highlights the importance of community vigilance in protecting wildlife during seasonal household activities.
