BAGUIO CITY — Six residents were evacuated from Barangay Guisad Surong on Thursday following a landslide that damaged a house in the area, according to the Baguio City Police Office. The affected families were relocated to temporary shelter at a local pastor's residence in Purok 4 as a precautionary measure. The evacuation comes less than three months after a catastrophic erosion event on August 9 that devastated the same village, killing 10 people and leaving dozens homeless. Police coordinated the relocation efforts to ensure the safety of residents in the affected area. The renewed ground movement highlights the vulnerability of settlements in the mountainous terrain surrounding Baguio City, where heavy rains and unstable soil conditions have repeatedly triggered deadly landslides.
