Six-year-old rescued after mother's brutal assault in Gujarat town

A six-year-old girl in Junagadh, Gujarat, was rescued following reports of severe physical abuse by her mother, officials said Tuesday. According to initial findings, the child's mother, Nazima Solanki, allegedly subjected the girl to repeated beatings using a rolling pin and electrical wires, leaving visible marks on her body.

Neighbours alerted to the child's distressed cries intervened to stop the assault and immediately contacted both local police and the child protection helpline. The girl was subsequently transferred to a safe location, and medical examinations were conducted to document her injuries and assess her physical and psychological condition.

Officers have registered a case and begun formal investigation into the matter. The child welfare authorities have taken custody of the girl pending further proceedings. Such incidents of child abuse in domestic settings have drawn heightened scrutiny from state welfare agencies in recent years, with a focus on community vigilance and rapid response mechanisms.
