SK Hynix announced it is putting on hold a planned initial public offering of Solidigm in the US markets after raising concerns from South Korean government authorities. The chipmaker said the decision reflects a need to address regulatory considerations in its home country before proceeding with the capital markets transaction.
Solidigm, which manufactures NAND flash memory and solid-state drives, has been a key part of SK Hynix's portfolio. The Seoul-based conglomerate had been exploring the IPO as a means to raise capital for the subsidiary's growth initiatives and market expansion.
Despite shelving the IPO plans for now, SK Hynix indicated that it remains focused on Solidigm's long-term development. The company said it will continue to assess various funding mechanisms to support the unit's operational needs and strategic investments.
The delay reflects broader regulatory attention in South Korea toward major tech companies' capital and asset management decisions. SK Hynix has not provided a timeline for when it may revisit the IPO or announce alternative financing arrangements for Solidigm.
