Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLIC Life) has announced it will provide Rs1 million in free life insurance cover to parents of every child born on 1 October 2026, marking the fifth successive year of the programme. The initiative will be implemented island-wide, encompassing hospitals across the country to ensure widespread access for qualifying families. The scheme reflects the insurer's commitment to supporting new parents at a critical life stage while honouring the international observance of World Children's Day. Eligible parents will receive the complimentary coverage automatically upon birth registration during the designated date, with no additional premium requirements. The programme underscores growing efforts by the local insurance sector to extend financial protection to Sri Lankan families during significant life milestones.
