India's electronics exports have surged to $26.66 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year, driven primarily by robust smartphone shipments. The strong performance underscores the country's growing role as a global manufacturing hub for mobile devices and electronic components.

Electronics exports reached $26.66 billion during April to August of FY27, marking a significant increase that reflects strengthening demand for Indian-manufactured products in global markets. Smartphone exports constituted the largest contributor to this growth, accounting for nearly 60 percent of total electronics shipments during the period.
Beyond smartphones, the electronics sector demonstrated broad-based strength. Printed circuit board (PCB) shipments experienced particularly sharp growth, signaling expanding capacity across the manufacturing value chain. The surge in PCB exports points to India's deepening integration into global electronics supply networks, as manufacturers increasingly look to diversify production away from traditional hubs.
The performance comes as India continues to position itself as an alternative to China in electronics manufacturing, leveraging government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to attract domestic and international manufacturers. The strong five-month performance suggests the sector is on track to deliver robust annual export figures for FY27.
Industry analysts attribute the growth to a combination of factors, including rising smartphone assembly by both Indian and multinational companies, increasing investments in component manufacturing, and growing international confidence in India's production capabilities and supply chain reliability.
