Smith fit to bat as Australia targets South Africa test finish

Steve Smith will be available for Australia's batting lineup on Thursday as the second test against South Africa reaches its conclusion at St George's Park in Gqebertscha. The decision comes after medical assessments cleared the former Australian captain, who had been restricted by a neck issue during the previous day's play. Officials confirmed Smith's availability ahead of what could prove a decisive final day in the test series. Smith's return strengthens Australia's batting prospects as the team looks to consolidate its position in the match. The injury assessment represents a significant boost for Australia, with Smith's experience and form critical to the team's performance in the closely contested test series against the Proteas.
