Solar Industries International Limited has announced plans to acquire South Africa-based Omnia Holdings in an all-cash transaction valued at ₹12,951 crore, marking a major strategic expansion for the Nagpur-headquartered explosives manufacturer.
The acquisition will strengthen Solar Industries' global mining portfolio and integrate Omnia's established capabilities in explosives manufacturing, blasting solutions and ammonium nitrate production. The move positions the Indian firm to capture greater market share in international mining and related sectors where demand for specialised blasting materials remains robust.
Omnia, a significant player in the South African chemicals and explosives sector, brings established distribution networks and technical expertise that complement Solar Industries' existing operations across multiple geographies. The combined entity will leverage synergies in manufacturing, supply chain management and customer relationships across key mining regions.
The transaction represents Solar Industries' continued strategy of pursuing high-value international acquisitions to diversify its revenue streams and reduce dependence on domestic market cycles. With mining activity expected to remain active across Africa and globally, the acquisition aligns with the company's long-term growth objectives.
