South Central Railway partners with IIT-H for station traffic analysis

South Central Railway (SCR) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) to undertake detailed traffic studies at Secunderabad and Lingampalli railway stations. The research initiative is expected to provide critical insights into passenger movement patterns, congestion points, and operational bottlenecks at these major transport nodes.

Secunderabad station, one of the busiest railway hubs in the region, handles a significant volume of daily passenger traffic, while Lingampalli station serves as an important commuter terminal. The traffic studies will analyse peak-hour congestion, passenger distribution across platforms, and the effectiveness of current crowd management systems at both facilities.

The findings from IIT-H's analysis are expected to guide SCR in implementing targeted infrastructure improvements and operational modifications. The research will likely inform decisions regarding platform expansions, signage enhancements, and passenger amenity upgrades to streamline the commuter experience.

This collaboration between SCR and the premier research institution reflects a growing focus on data-driven decision-making in Indian railway operations.
