KORONADAL CITY — South Cotabato is expecting to cross the P1 billion threshold in locally-sourced income during 2026, with provincial officials expressing confidence the target is within reach. The province collected P992.32 million in 2025, positioning it as the highest revenue generator among the four provinces comprising Soccsksargen, also known as Region 12.
Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. noted that the province requires only approximately P8 million in additional revenue to achieve the symbolic P1 billion milestone. The modest gap between current collections and the target has bolstered optimism among provincial leadership regarding the feasibility of reaching the goal next year.
The steady increase in locally-sourced income reflects South Cotabato's growing economic activity and improved tax collection mechanisms. The province's performance underscores its position as a significant revenue contributor within the Soccsksargen region, which encompasses multiple provinces and municipalities across South and Southeast Mindanao.
