KORONADAL CITY — Several local government units across South Cotabato have suspended face-to-face classes to conduct comprehensive reviews of school security measures following a shooting incident at Banga National High School.
The municipalities of Banga, Lake Sebu, Tantangan, Norala, Sto. Niño and Surallah, along with Koronadal City, implemented the class suspensions to allow educational institutions to evaluate and enhance their safety protocols.
The temporary halt to in-person instruction comes as a precautionary measure while school administrators and local officials work to identify security gaps and implement additional protective measures across their respective jurisdictions.
Local education officials have not yet announced a timeline for the resumption of face-to-face classes, pending completion of the security assessments. The incident has prompted regional authorities to prioritize student and staff safety in their planning going forward.
