South Korea deploys assessment team to Strait of Hormuz

South Korea's defence ministry confirmed on Tuesday that it has sent a team to assess the current security situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical shipping lanes. The move comes as regional tensions remain elevated in the vital waterway that links the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea.

The inspection team will evaluate conditions on the ground and gather intelligence to inform future policy decisions regarding potential South Korean military involvement in the region. The ministry stressed, however, that no determination has yet been made regarding the deployment of South Korean armed forces to the area.
