South Korea's dominant investment position in Vietnam reflects the deepening economic ties between the two countries, underpinned by their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The $103 billion in registered capital underscores Seoul's confidence in Vietnam's economic trajectory and investment climate, positioning the Southeast Asian nation as a key hub for Korean business expansion in the region.
Bilateral trade momentum accelerated sharply this year, with two-way commerce reaching $80 billion during the first eight months of 2026—the highest figure recorded for any comparable period in previous years. This robust performance has bolstered prospects for achieving a historic milestone: exceeding $100 billion in annual bilateral trade for the first time in 2026.
Both nations have set ambitious targets for their economic relationship, with projections calling for bilateral trade to reach $150 billion by 2030. This trajectory reflects enhanced coordination and experience-sharing initiatives undertaken during Vietnam's organization of APEC activities, strengthening institutional frameworks for sustained trade growth.
Regional initiatives complement the national-level partnership. Lam Dong province, among other Vietnamese localities, is actively pursuing deeper economic and tourism cooperation with South Korea, seeking to diversify investment flows beyond major industrial hubs and develop new sectors of mutual benefit.
