VALENCIA CITY — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned residents of southern Bukidnon to brace for significant rainfall in the coming days, particularly during afternoon and evening periods.
Catherine Asunto, a weather specialist at PAGASA's Mindanao Regional Services Division, attributed the expected precipitation to the positioning of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) over the region. The ITCZ, a band of low pressure that circles the earth near the equator, typically brings enhanced moisture and thunderstorm activity to affected areas.
Residents and local government units are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions. Authorities urged the public to avoid flood-prone areas and to secure loose outdoor items that could be damaged by strong winds accompanying the rain.
The weather bureau recommended that residents remain vigilant for possible hazards including landslides and flash flooding in low-lying communities. Updates on the weather condition will be issued regularly by PAGASA.
