Southwest monsoon continues battering Luzon; fair skies expected south

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday that the southwest monsoon will maintain its grip on a significant portion of Luzon island, even as conditions improve elsewhere in the archipelago.
According to the state weather agency's early morning forecast, the habagat — the local term for the southwest monsoon — will continue to dominate weather patterns across Luzon during the day. Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported that residents in affected areas should remain alert to potential impacts from the persistent wind system.
In contrast, the Visayas and Mindanao regions are expected to enjoy generally fair weather conditions throughout the forecast period, offering relief from recent unsettled patterns in those areas.
The forecast underscores the varying weather conditions across the country, with Luzon bearing the brunt of the seasonal monsoon system while southern portions of the archipelago experience more favorable conditions. Residents and weather-dependent sectors are advised to monitor further updates from Pagasa as conditions may evolve.
