Southwest monsoon ends; ITCZ to sustain rainfall across Philippines
The Philippine weather bureau says the southwest monsoon season has concluded, but the Intertropical Convergence Zone will continue delivering rain to various parts of the archipelago. A strengthening high-pressure system is reshaping weather patterns across the region.

MANILA—The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration confirmed Monday that the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, has officially ended its seasonal cycle. However, residents should expect continued precipitation as the Intertropical Convergence Zone maintains its influence over portions of the country.
Pagesa attributed the shift in weather conditions to changing atmospheric patterns, particularly the intensification of a high-pressure system affecting the region. The convergence zone's presence will sustain moisture delivery to affected areas despite the monsoon season's conclusion.
The weather agency's assessment indicates that rainfall patterns will remain influenced by the ITCZ rather than the traditional southwest monsoon circulation. Filipinos in affected areas are advised to monitor weather updates as conditions continue to evolve through the transition period.
