Southwest monsoon intensification to drench western Luzon through weekend

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has forecast enhanced monsoon rains over western Luzon as a low-pressure area positioned off Extreme Northern Luzon continues to influence regional weather patterns.
According to Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia, the low-pressure system will maintain its effect on the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, directing moisture-laden winds toward the western sections of Luzon. The enhanced precipitation is expected to persist until Saturday, August 29.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant for potential flooding and landslides given the concentration of rainfall. Local government units in western Luzon provinces should monitor weather updates closely and prepare contingency measures for communities in low-lying and flood-prone zones.
