Southwest monsoon likely to retreat from West Rajasthan mid-September

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that atmospheric conditions are turning favourable for the monsoon withdrawal process to commence in West Rajasthan by mid-September next year. The anticipated withdrawal from the western portions of the state around September 19 would mark the onset of the gradual seasonal transition away from the monsoon period.

The monsoon withdrawal is a key seasonal phenomenon that typically unfolds across India in a phased manner, beginning from the northwest and progressively advancing southeastward. The timing and pace of withdrawal influence agricultural activities, water availability, and weather patterns across affected regions.
