Southwest monsoon set to drench Luzon with heavy rainfall Saturday

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) cautioned residents and local officials on Saturday to prepare for significant rainfall across parts of Luzon as the habagat, or southwest monsoon, maintains its grip on the region.
Forecasters noted that rainfall ranging from 15 to 30 millimeters could accumulate across several Luzon provinces during Saturday afternoon, with the potential for localized flooding in low-lying and flood-prone communities.
The southwest monsoon typically brings moisture-laden winds from the Indian Ocean during the rainy season, creating conditions conducive to widespread precipitation across western and central portions of the country's largest island.
Authorities urged residents in vulnerable areas to monitor weather updates closely and take appropriate precautions.
