Southwest monsoon to bring heavy rain across Luzon on Friday

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has alerted residents across Luzon to expect heavy rainfall on Friday, September 4, as the southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, maintains its grip over the archipelago.
According to Pagasa weather specialist Obet, the habagat is expected to sustain and potentially intensify rainfall in affected areas of Luzon throughout the day. The agency cautioned that some areas may experience strong downpours as the monsoon system continues to influence weather patterns across the region.
Residents and local government units in vulnerable areas are advised to exercise caution and prepare for possible flooding and related hazards. Pagasa will continue to monitor the weather system and issue updates as conditions evolve.
The southwest monsoon typically brings significant precipitation to western portions of the Philippines during the months of June through September.
