The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a rainfall advisory early Thursday morning, alerting residents across the capital region and Luzon areas to prepare for wet conditions.
According to the weather bureau, the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, is responsible for the expected precipitation. The system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall in most areas, with heavier downpours possible in localized zones throughout the morning hours.
The advisory was issued at 8 a.m. to give residents and local government units sufficient time to prepare for potential flooding and related hazards. Motorists and commuters were advised to exercise caution on roads, while residents in flood-prone areas were encouraged to remain vigilant.
The southwest monsoon is a seasonal wind pattern that regularly affects the Philippines during certain months of the year, often bringing significant moisture and rainfall to western-facing areas of the archipelago.
