Southwest monsoon to bring rain across Luzon, Western Visayas

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued an alert Wednesday evening for monsoon-induced rain showers affecting portions of the country's northern and central regions.

According to Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja, the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, will continue to bring rainfall to susceptible areas throughout the day. The advisory, released at 5 p.m., outlined the regions most vulnerable to the weather system's effects.

Residents and local authorities in affected communities have been urged to remain vigilant for potential flooding and landslides in low-lying and mountainous terrain. The weather bureau recommends monitoring updates as conditions evolve.

The southwest monsoon typically brings wet weather to western portions of the Philippines during its seasonal cycle. Pagasa continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and will issue updated forecasts as needed.
