MANILA — The southwest monsoon will continue its grip on the northern and central Philippines through Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The weather system is expected to bring moisture and rain to Luzon and portions of the Visayas as the habagat maintains its seasonal pattern. Pagasa's early morning forecast indicated no immediate meteorological threats to the country from regional storm systems.

Tropical Depression Neneng, which has been monitored by weather officials, is projected to track away from Philippine territory and will not directly impact the nation. The low-pressure system is expected to move along a path that keeps it beyond the country's jurisdiction.

The southwest monsoon typically brings scattered to moderate rainfall across affected areas during this period. Residents in exposed regions should remain alert to weather updates and localized flooding risks during the monsoon season.
