MANILA — The southwest monsoon will continue battering Luzon and Visayas with persistent rain through Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Thursday.
The habagat is expected to maintain its grip on the country's northern and central regions, bringing widespread precipitation that could affect daily activities and travel.
Occidental Mindoro faces the heaviest rainfall threat, with forecasters warning of up to 200 millimeters of rain expected from Friday through Saturday. Residents and local officials in the western Mindoro province were advised to prepare for potential flooding and landslides.
The weather agency urged the public to monitor regular updates as the monsoon system moves across the archipelago. Communities in low-lying areas were encouraged to take necessary precautions ahead of the expected deluge.
