MANILA — The southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, will maintain its grip over Luzon on Sunday with widespread rain expected across the island, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported.
In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa indicated that occasional rains would affect Batanes, while scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated to impact other parts of Luzon during the day.
The persistent moisture-laden winds from the southwest are typical of the season and have been bringing moisture-laden conditions to the western portions of the archipelago. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain cautious of potential flash flooding and landslides in susceptible locations.
Pagesa continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and updates its forecasts regularly to provide timely advisories to the public and relevant disaster response agencies.
