Southwest monsoon to drench parts of Luzon this weekend

MANILA — The southwest monsoon will maintain its grip on parts of Luzon this weekend, with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecasting sustained rainfall across western regions.
The habagat, as the monsoon is locally known, is expected to continue affecting Oriental and Occidental Mindoro as well as Palawan on Saturday, according to Pagasa's latest weather bulletin.
Residents in the affected provinces have been advised to prepare for wet conditions and potential flooding in low-lying areas. The state weather bureau typically updates its forecasts to help communities and transportation authorities plan accordingly during monsoon season.
The southwest monsoon, which typically occurs during the warmer months, brings moisture-laden winds from the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, often resulting in heavy precipitation across western portions of the archipelago.
