Spain seeks EU emergency aid as migrant surge strains Ceuta enclave

Spain has formally petitioned the European Union for emergency funding to address the humanitarian and administrative strain created by a massive migrant surge into Ceuta, the Spanish autonomous city located on the North African coast. The request comes after some 70,000 migrants entered the enclave in recent weeks, overwhelming local resources and services.

The European Commission confirmed receipt of Spain's appeal and stated that officials are currently assessing the request to determine what assistance may be provided. The scale of the migration wave has placed significant pressure on Ceuta's infrastructure, including accommodation, healthcare, and border management systems.
