Spintronics, a semiconductor design company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with CEERI, a premier research institution under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, to jointly pursue research and development in gallium nitride (GaN) technology.
Gallium nitride semiconductors are increasingly vital for high-efficiency power electronic applications, including electric vehicle charging systems, renewable energy conversion, and industrial power supplies. The collaboration seeks to leverage Spintronics' design expertise alongside CEERI's research capabilities to accelerate innovation in this critical technology domain.
The partnership reflects India's broader strategic push to reduce dependence on imported semiconductor components and establish a domestic ecosystem for advanced chip design and manufacturing. GaN technology is considered essential for next-generation power electronics, with growing demand across automotive, telecommunications, and renewable energy sectors.
Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to develop technological solutions tailored to Indian industry requirements while contributing to the nation's semiconductor self-reliance goals. The initiative aligns with government initiatives to strengthen India's position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
