The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) observed its 75th anniversary through a two-day religious ceremony conducted at the historic Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on October 22 and 23. The event was presided over by Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, Commander of the SLAF, alongside Krishanthi Edirisinghe, Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, reflecting the institution's commitment to commemorating its historical milestones through spiritual observance.
The ceremony at the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism's most sacred sites, underscores the cultural and religious dimensions of Sri Lanka's military heritage. Such commemorative events have become customary for the SLAF in marking significant institutional anniversaries and recognizing the service of its personnel.
The participation of high-ranking officials and the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit highlighted the broader institutional engagement with the anniversary celebrations. The choice of venue in Kandy reflects the enduring significance of religious and cultural practices in Sri Lankan national observances.
