Sri Lanka and Japan strengthen ties at fifth business committee meeting

The Board of Investment (BOI) convened the fifth Sri Lanka-Japan Business Committee meeting, bringing together government officials and business representatives from both countries to explore expanded economic collaboration.

The meeting served as a platform for discussing investment opportunities, trade facilitation, and sectoral partnerships that could benefit enterprises in both nations. Key focus areas included infrastructure development, manufacturing, and technology-driven industries where complementary strengths could be leveraged.

Japan has maintained a long-standing economic presence in Sri Lanka, with Japanese investors active across multiple sectors including automotive manufacturing, electronics, and services. The periodic business committee meetings reflect the structured approach both countries have adopted to strengthen bilateral commercial ties.

The fifth iteration of the committee meeting reinforces the importance both governments place on facilitating Japanese investment in Sri Lanka while creating opportunities for Sri Lankan businesses to access Japanese markets and expertise. Officials from both delegations exchanged views on regulatory improvements and policy frameworks aimed at enhancing the investment climate.

The meeting concluded with agreement on continued dialogue and cooperation mechanisms to support sustained economic growth and mutual prosperity between the two countries.
