With the completion of eight months into the financial year, the Customs department has accumulated revenue equivalent to 83 per cent of its full-year target. This progress positions the organisation on track to meet or exceed its annual revenue objectives, provided current collection rates persist through the final quarter.
The successive monthly achievements reflect improved customs administration and enhanced border compliance mechanisms. Officials have attributed the sustained performance to streamlined clearance procedures, strengthened enforcement against duty evasion, and increased cargo volumes across major entry points.
The Customs department's revenue collection forms a critical component of government finances, particularly given the country's ongoing economic stabilisation efforts. Consistent outperformance in customs duties provides additional fiscal resources to support state operations and debt servicing obligations.
