Sri Lanka inaugurates National Business Facilitation Centre to streamline investment processes

The National Business Facilitation Centre (NBFC) was inaugurated on September 22 as part of a presidential initiative to simplify business operations in Sri Lanka. Operating under the Presidential Secretariat, the centre has been designed to identify and eliminate administrative and regulatory obstacles that currently impede investment and industrial development.

The establishment of the NBFC reflects efforts to create a more efficient ecosystem for business operations by facilitating coordination among government agencies involved in investment and industrial processes. By centralising business facilitation services, the centre is intended to reduce the time and complexity required for entrepreneurs and investors to navigate regulatory requirements.

Official sources indicated that the centre will serve as a focal point for addressing systemic barriers that have historically slowed investment approvals and industrial project implementation. Through streamlined inter-agency coordination, the NBFC seeks to enhance Sri Lanka's competitiveness in attracting both domestic and foreign investment.

The inauguration marks a significant step in the government's broader agenda to improve the country's business environment and support economic growth through administrative reform.
