The Sri Lanka ITEC Alumni Association held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at the Grand Crystal Ballroom of Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo, marking the formal establishment of the organisation.

The association represents Sri Lankan professionals who have benefited from the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, a long-standing bilateral initiative providing training and capacity-building opportunities across multiple sectors.

The formation of the alumni association reflects growing recognition of the value of India-backed professional development programmes in Sri Lanka. The network is designed to strengthen connections among graduates and facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration among trained professionals across the country.

The ITEC programme has historically offered training in diverse fields including governance, information technology, agriculture, and defence cooperation, with hundreds of Sri Lankan participants completing courses in India over the years.

The establishment of the formal alumni structure aims to maximise the collective impact of these trained professionals and create pathways for ongoing engagement between Sri Lanka and India in technical and economic cooperation.
