Sri Lanka joins 11-nation media training programme in Kolkata

Journalists and media representatives from eleven nations, including Sri Lanka, are currently enrolled in a specialized media training course in Kolkata that commenced on October 26 and will conclude on November 13.

The programme is organized under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative of India's Ministry of External Affairs. The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute has been designated as the host institution for the three-week training initiative, leveraging expertise in media production and journalism.

ITEC, which has been instrumental in fostering technical and professional exchanges across the Asia-Pacific region, provides training opportunities to participants from developing nations in areas spanning journalism, media management, and broadcast production. The course aims to enhance the capacity of media professionals and facilitate knowledge sharing among participants from diverse media landscapes.

The inclusion of Sri Lankan delegates reflects the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Colombo and New Delhi in the field of media and communications. Such exchange programmes serve to strengthen professional networks and expose journalists to international best practices in the rapidly evolving media sector.

Participants are expected to gain practical insights into contemporary media practices, editorial standards, and digital journalism trends during their time in Kolkata.
