Sri Lanka launches digital system to modernise public sector HR management

The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has unveiled the GovHR digital platform, marking a significant step towards modernising human resource management across the country's public sector.

The system is designed to centralise and streamline HR functions that were previously handled through fragmented manual processes. By digitising key personnel management activities, the platform is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and enable better coordination among government departments and provincial authorities.

GovHR encompasses critical HR operations including employee records management, payroll processing, leave administration, and performance tracking. The digital infrastructure aims to provide a unified platform accessible to human resource professionals working across various government ministries and local government institutions.

The launch represents part of broader government efforts to advance digital transformation in public administration. Officials anticipate the system will enhance transparency in personnel matters while reducing delays in HR-related processes that citizens and government employees frequently encounter.

The implementation is expected to roll out progressively across government institutions, with training and support provided to HR personnel to ensure smooth adoption of the new digital system.
