Sri Lanka Launches World Bank-Backed Tourism Marketing Push

Officials from Sri Lanka's tourism and foreign affairs sectors convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism to advance implementation of the Global Destination Marketing and Communication Campaign, a World Bank-supported initiative designed to elevate Sri Lanka's tourism brand internationally.

The campaign represents a strategic effort to position Sri Lanka more competitively within the global tourism sector, capitalizing on the country's natural attractions, cultural heritage, and hospitality infrastructure to draw international visitors.

High-level discussions at the ministry-level meeting focused on coordination mechanisms and implementation frameworks needed to execute the campaign effectively across multiple markets and communication channels.

The World Bank partnership underscores international confidence in Sri Lanka's tourism potential and reflects broader efforts by the country to diversify its economic base and increase foreign exchange earnings through sustainable tourism development.
