Sri Lanka music body suspends DJ licensing fees for private events

The Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL) has announced a temporary suspension of music licensing fees for DJs performing at weddings, private parties, and similar events. The decision provides immediate relief to event organisers and music professionals who have faced licensing compliance requirements for playing copyrighted material at private functions.

The suspension addresses longstanding concerns from the entertainment industry regarding the financial burden of licensing fees for smaller, private events. ACPOSL, which manages music copyright and licensing on behalf of creators and publishers in Sri Lanka, has not specified an end date for the temporary suspension.
