Sri Lanka Police implement special traffic plan for Colombo Marathon

Sri Lanka Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management scheme for tomorrow's Colombo Marathon 2026, an international running event expected to draw participants from across the region. The marathon will begin at 6:00 a.m. from the National Sports Authority (NSA) premises, with traffic restrictions taking effect from the same time.

According to a statement from the Police Media Division, multiple roads throughout Colombo will be subject to restrictions during the event. Commuters and motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow additional travel time to accommodate the traffic diversions.

The special traffic plan has been implemented to ensure the safe passage of marathon participants while minimizing disruption to the general public. The restrictions are expected to remain in place until the completion of the marathon event.

Residents and commuters in the Colombo area are urged to monitor official police announcements for specific details regarding affected routes and alternative travel options during the event.
