Sri Lanka's rupee closed stronger in spot market trading on Thursday, appreciating by one rupee to 330.10/20 against the US dollar, dealers reported. The currency's movement reflected broader market conditions as investors assessed economic developments and external pressures on the local unit.

Fixed income markets showed stability, with government bonds holding their ground across key maturity points. A bond maturing on September 15, 2027 closed unchanged at 9.60/80 percent, while the March 15, 2028 maturity traded in a narrow band at 9.98/10.05 percent, indicating investor confidence in longer-dated securities.

The steady performance in bond yields suggests market participants remain cautious but composed regarding Sri Lanka's debt dynamics. The combination of currency appreciation and stable bond pricing reflects a degree of equilibrium in financial markets, though analysts continue to monitor external factors that could influence both the rupee's trajectory and yield movements in coming sessions.
