The reclassification, which reflects changes in the country's gross national income per capita, does not automatically trigger the loss of vaccine assistance from major international health organizations and donor programmes. Vaccine eligibility is determined by multiple criteria beyond income classification alone, including disease burden, vaccination coverage rates, and specific programme guidelines established by organizations such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the World Health Organization.

Sri Lanka's immunization infrastructure and existing vaccine procurement agreements are expected to remain operational regardless of the income category shift. The country has well-established vaccination programmes covering routine childhood immunizations and targeted disease prevention initiatives that operate through both government and coordinated international support mechanisms.

Authorities have emphasized that the transition in World Bank classification will not compromise the nation's capacity to maintain current immunization coverage or access to vaccines for its population.
