Sri Lanka to credit September Aswesuma welfare payments tomorrow

The Welfare Benefits Board confirmed on September 15 that beneficiaries of the Aswesuma welfare programme can expect their monthly allowances for September to arrive in their bank accounts the following day. The announcement marks the continuation of the government's ongoing social protection initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable households across the country.

According to the board's statement, the first phase of September disbursements will distribute Rs. 9,181,696,250 across 999,053 registered beneficiary families. The payment schedule reflects the programme's commitment to regular, predictable cash transfers to eligible recipients.

The Aswesuma scheme, which provides targeted financial assistance to low-income households, has become a cornerstone of Sri Lanka's social welfare framework. The programme's phased approach to payments ensures systematic processing and verification of beneficiary accounts before funds are released.

Families enrolled in the scheme are advised to confirm their banking details with relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted receipt of their monthly allowances. The Welfare Benefits Board continues to process applications and update beneficiary records to expand coverage across eligible populations.
