Officials confirmed plans for the launch following discussions held at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday between Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and a delegation led by Gevorg Sargsyan, World Bank Group Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

AgriConnect Sri Lanka aims to transform agricultural practices across the country by leveraging digital solutions and modern technology. The initiative is expected to enhance productivity, improve market access, and strengthen the resilience of the farming sector amid broader economic challenges.

The World Bank has positioned itself as a key partner in Sri Lanka's agricultural modernisation efforts, providing technical expertise and financial support for digital infrastructure development. The October 30 launch is anticipated to mark a significant step toward integrating technology throughout the island's farming communities.

Details regarding the specific features and implementation strategy for AgriConnect Sri Lanka are expected to be unveiled during the official launch event. The programme represents part of broader efforts to revitalise Sri Lanka's economy through sector-specific development initiatives.
