The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has initiated a comprehensive campaign designed to enhance the overall quality and operational standards of the nation's tourism industry. The National Tourism Standards Program (NTSP) represents a strategic effort to ensure consistent service delivery and elevate Sri Lanka's competitive standing in the regional tourism marketplace.
The campaign addresses the need for uniform quality benchmarks across accommodation providers, tour operators, hospitality establishments, and other tourism-related businesses. By establishing and promoting these standards, the SLTDA seeks to strengthen visitor satisfaction and build greater confidence among international and domestic tourists considering Sri Lanka as a travel destination.
The initiative comes as the tourism sector continues its recovery following recent global disruptions and represents a broader effort to position Sri Lanka as a quality-focused destination. The standards program is expected to encompass training, certification, and compliance frameworks that will guide industry participants in meeting internationally recognized benchmarks.
Official sources indicated that the campaign will involve collaboration with stakeholders across the tourism value chain, including hotels, restaurants, transport operators, and tourism guides. The SLTDA anticipates that widespread adoption of these standards will enhance Sri Lanka's reputation and support sustainable growth in tourism revenues.
