The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has warned fishing vessel operators to move their multi-day fishing operations away from sea areas in proximity to the Andaman Islands, where a developing low-pressure zone poses potential safety risks.
The advisory, issued to protect maritime interests and ensure seafarer safety, recommends that vessels currently operating in the affected waters relocate to safer zones. Low-pressure systems in the region can rapidly develop into adverse weather conditions, bringing rough seas, strong winds, and poor visibility that threaten vessel operations and crew safety.
Multi-day fishing vessels, which typically operate in offshore waters for extended periods, are particularly vulnerable to sudden weather deterioration.
