Sri Lanka's Prime Minister has departed to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), one of the most significant diplomatic gatherings in the Commonwealth calendar.
The CHOGM convenes biennially and serves as a key forum for leaders of Commonwealth nations to discuss matters of mutual interest, coordinate policy positions, and strengthen bilateral and multilateral relationships. Sri Lanka, as a longstanding Commonwealth member, maintains an active role in these proceedings.
The summit provides an opportunity for the Prime Minister to engage with counterparts from across the Commonwealth, address global and regional challenges, and advance Sri Lanka's diplomatic priorities on the international stage.
Attendance at the CHOGM reflects Sri Lanka's continued commitment to Commonwealth cooperation and its participation in the wider network of nations united by shared historical and institutional ties.
