The national carrier has extended its support to enable the local student to join the groundbreaking space project, which represents a significant collaborative effort in satellite development. Mission ShakthiSAT will see female participants from across the globe working together to design and construct a satellite, marking a notable milestone in women's involvement in space technology.
The initiative underscores growing efforts across South Asia to promote participation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. By sponsoring the student's participation, SriLankan Airlines has demonstrated its commitment to supporting educational and scientific advancement in the region.
The satellite project brings together young women from diverse backgrounds and nations, providing them with hands-on experience in space technology and fostering international collaboration. Such initiatives are increasingly seen as important platforms for developing the next generation of scientists and engineers, particularly in underrepresented demographics within the aerospace sector.
The student's participation reflects Sri Lanka's growing engagement with regional and global space initiatives, positioning the island nation alongside other countries investing in science and technology education for their youth.
